The funding for PALS has now finished and unfortunately the project will not be continuing.

We would like to thank all the members, volunteers and staff for all of their hard work and dedicatation over the past three years.

Project for Advocacy in Lanarkshire South (PALS) is a collective advocacy and peer education group for young people with learning disabilities who live in South Lanarkshire.

PALS is managed by Lanarkshire Ace and funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

PALS is split into two age groups. The older group is for people aged 16 to 25. The younger group is for people aged 11 to 16.

Collective advocacy is where a group of people join together to speak up for their rights and campaign on issues that affect more than one person. Some of the things PALS campaign on include moving on from school, looking for a job and social activities.

Peer education is where young people teach other young people about different issues which are important.

Peer education is not about telling people what they should do. It is about giving them the information they need to make safer choices.

As part of our peer education service, groups of our members pass on information about alcohol, drugs and sexual health to other young people in South Lanarkshire.
